Sodium hypochlorite is a clear, slightly yellowish solution with distinct odor. It is produced by reacting chlorine with a solution of sodium hydroxide. Sodium Hypochlorite shows, as well as chlorine, a very high reactivity and oxidizing power, but as a solution it is easier to handle and more cost-effective than chlorine.
