Sodium Hypochlorite
Basic inorganic chemical with a wide variety of uses
Our sodium hypochlorite (NaOCl) is an essential base chemical for diverse applications
Our sodium hypochlorite products are provided by Nobian, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Nouryon.
Sodium hypochlorite is a clear, slightly yellowish solution with distinct odor. It is produced by reacting chlorine with a solution of sodium hydroxide.
Sodium Hypochlorite shows, as well as chlorine, a very high reactivity and oxidizing power, but as a solution it is easier to handle and more cost-effective than chlorine.
We provide diluted solutions of sodium hypochlorite with different active chlorine concentrations:
- Active chlorine concentration of 150 g/l
- Active chlorine concentration of 170 g/l

Both drinking and process water are derived from either groundwater or surface water. However, as surface water (in particular) contains many microorganisms, some of which are pathogenic, the water must be disinfected before it can be used.
Sodium hypochlorite is found in many household cleaning products, and is used to clean hard surfaces in particular. Diluted sodium hypochlorite tends to be sold to consumers in small quantities (retail packaging).
The physical and chemical properties of starch restrict its use. One of the most effective ways to modify starch is by hypochlorite oxidation, which adds a larger number of carbonyl and carboxyl groups to the starch molecules.
