Key responsibilities

  • Develop line management and ensure implementation of HSE&S policies, plans and practices for Moosleerau and Sempach Station in line with the Corporate HSE&S Policy, Directives, Rules & Procedures and in compliance with relevant regulatory requirements
  • Set the safety culture, manage hazards and investigate deviations and non-compliances to drive our vision “zero incidents”
  • Act as a change agent for continuous improvement and monitor, validate and report performance
  • Further development of our ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001 management system and train, support process owners
  • Carry out internal audits throughout all levels in the organization and on our 5 other European locations
  • Perform risk assessment of tasks, chemicals and processes
  • Drive our process safety management program
  • Take on a key role in the Emergency Management Team
  • Consult with the Corporate Product Stewardship Organization on topics like labelling and answer customer requests in the QHSE area
  • Manage the Moosleerau laboratory and their employees in all areas of quality control 
  • Manage HSE Coordinator and lead the HSE Committee on both locations

Job Requirements

Education and experiences

  • Bachelor, masters or doctorate level qualification in chemical engineering or related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in HSE and Hazardous Management, e.g. certified Auditor HSE Management Systems and work experience in different multiple units, disciplines, locations and/or other companies in the chemical sector

Management/general skills:

  • Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute and follow through
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial thinking, result oriented personality with solid negotiations-, problem solving and project management skills as well as sound judgement and decision-making skills
  • Positive influencing: Acting as change agent with the ability to convince others, gain agreement or acceptance of plans and activities. Having furthermore the ability to move others willingly towards a desired goal or course of action  
  • Ability to drive continuous improvement of the processes, policies, standards
  • Able to work in an inclusive way in the HSE Community to make sure the business experiences ‘one voice’ and the teams collective objectives are met
  • Very good verbal and written language skills in English and German required
