These positions are responsible for providing support for all PSM related systems at the 3 Houston area sites. The employee should have a strong working knowledge of and experience with multiple of the 14 PSM elements as well as the Nouryon PSM and HSE Framework. Key objectives include leveraging PSM competence within Nouryon and contribute to strategic continual improvement of the Nouryon PSM program.
Key Objectives
- The PSM Engineer will support the three Houston area sites for one or more of the PSM Building Blocks (i.e. PHA, MOC, Siting, Safeguarding, etc.)
- The PSM Engineer will work with the three Houston sites to align best practices and coordinate with site personnel that play a role in Process Safety
- The PSM Engineer will assist the sites for their covered building blocks. This may be coordinating MOC’s, performing PHA’s, consulting on Siting, managing Safeguarding programs and doing other functions as required
- Ensures site’s systems relating to PSM activities comply with OSHA, EPA and DHS standards and regulations, as well as established Nouryon directives, rules and procedures
- Participates in routine audits of PSM systems including but not limited to: Process Safety Information, Operating Procedures, Training, PSSRs, Mechanical Integrity, Management of Change, Incident Investigation, and Emergency Response
- Assist external PSM related audits including: VPP, OSHA, and NAT
- Develops creative systems to improve compliance, continuous improvement and risk reduction through simplification of procedures and training
Principal Accountabilities
- Ensure Process Safety compliance with all local, state, national, and Nouryon standards including but not limited to the following:
- OSHA, EPA and DHS standards and regulations
- PHA re-validations and actions
- MOC
- PSSR
- Any other element of PSM
Functional Responsibilities/Network
- Collaborates closely with Region and Global PSM Teams as well as Technology organizations.
Job Requirement / Candidate profile
- Experience in a PSM regulated facility
- Has performed work with several of the 14 PSM elements, with strong understanding of the concepts for at least 3 elements
- Minimum prior experience for satisfactory performance – 2 to 15 years
- Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or Chemistry
- Very good reading, writing and communication skills in English
- Strong strategic and conceptual skills with ability to execute within given deadlines
- Ability to drive continuous improvement of the processes, policies, and standards
- Able to work in an inclusive way in the HSE community to make sure the business experiences ‘one voice’ and the team’s collective objectives are met
- Relevant experience in different multiple units, disciplines, locations and/or other companies
- Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and wear PPE including a respirator
- Physically lift 55lbs
