Nouryon has an outstanding opportunity for a Regulatory Specialist for either Houston TX, Chicago IL or Bridgewater NJ

The Regulatory Specialist will support business goals by proactively providing regulatory advice and information at substance and product level to ensure product regulatory compliance with relevant chemical regulations in the Americas region.

Primary Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure Regional product compliance
    • Responsible for contributing to regional compliance in the region and providing timely communication to business and impact analysis of new and draft regulation.
    • Provide regulatory expertise and registration support for regional markets.
    • Support business goals by proactively providing regulatory advice and information at substance and product level to business and RD&I.
    • Monitor application specific regulatory requirements and perform registrations (e.g. food contact, cosmetics regulation, plant protection products, adjuvants, nanomaterials, microplastics, etc.)
    • Develop product regulatory information in files or in databases.
    • US EPA TSCA PMN submission experience preferred.
    • Determination of CAS number and nomenclature based on synthesis a plus but not required.
  • Proactive monitoring of Chemical Regulation developments/trends
    • Monitor and interpret (existing and developing) chemical regulations and assess impact on business to provide advice in a proactive and timely
    • manner and facilitate substance registrations (REACH-like regulations, BPR, PMN, TSCA, FIFRA, FCN….) via outsourced partner.
    • Proactively monitor relevant regulatory developments/trends and communicate their implications and evaluate business impact for Nouryon.
  • Strategic customer support
    • Support business by responding to strategic customer’s enquires related to regulatory information (not already provided in SDS/PRID/other statements).
    • Develop and maintain regulatory statements.
  • RD&I support
    • Responsible for performing regulatory review at a regional level, providing regulatory documentation to support business needs.
    • Regulatory advice for development and launches of new product offerings into regional markets.
    • Prepare all necessary PSRA information/documentation to support the Product Introduction Systems (MLM) which includes new product launch, changes to products, or import of new products into the region
  • General
    • Contribute to complex projects within the PSRA area, like global launching of new product.
    • Responsible for following the Nouryon Business Principles and Code of Conduct with an obligation to report deviations in legal compliance to responsible manager.
    • Strives to identify opportunities for improvement and supports their implementation.
    • Responsible for setting up harmonized processes within own area of responsibility in Nouryon concerning business processes and change management
    • Obligation to maintain / archive product data, documents, decisions and assessments in accordance to legislation and other internal requirements
    • Develop a strong working relationship with business.
    • Develop a strong working relationship with global team members, driving success with personal development, and strong understanding of how to win together.
    • Manage medium and high complexity projects related to regulatory compliance

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry or other relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience or Master of Science in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, and 4 years of relevant experience
  • 4 – 8 years of work experience in regulatory, environmental, HSE or R&D depending upon base education.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Good knowledge of chemical regulations, hazard communication and product stewardship
  • Experience and ability in reading, interpreting and analyzing regulatory text and communicating it effectively to non-regulatory experts
  • Ability to build up a network being service oriented, organized, flexible and reliable
  • Excellent communication skills and very good in English
  • Excellent time-management and organization skills
  • Acts pro-actively with integrity
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and in ambiguous environments, be able to adapt and be flexible in often stressful situations
  • Leads parts of complex projects. Contact with national authorities.
  • Suggests and implements improvements of processes, systems and procedures within own area. Work is being reviewed by manager.
  • Knowledge of Nouryon’s product portfolio
