Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job
- Design and deliver IT solutions that transform Nouryon into a data driven organization (Intelligent Company), 60%
- Continuously improve the Nouryon Data Platform by improving data quality and by implementing innovative cloud services, 20%
- Develop modern data architecture for business intelligence reporting and analytics as well as advanced analytics using machine learning models and data science, 10%
- Develop and implement an enterprise data governance structure and data management process to make data secure and accessible in close cooperation with Nouryon’s Enterprise Data Architect, 5%
- Pro-actively identify new opportunities for Nouryon to get more value out of our data, 5%
Position in the Organisation
The Solution Architect Data Engineering will be part of the Functional Domain Data & Analytics. He/she will report into the Domain Lead Data & Analytics and work together with the other Solution Architects in this domain.
Responsibilities
- Interview business stakeholders to collect information needs and translate these into user stories, data models and design documents for reports and dashboards
- Build and maintain an enterprise data platform to provision on-demand high quality data to business analysts and data scientists
- Design, implement and maintain scalable data pipelines that ingest, transform and store data into Nouryon data platform
- Define and build measures and authorization profiles in MS Azure to ensure safe data storage and access controls
- Advise business stakeholders and IM Solution Architects on new technologies and capabilities in Data Engineering and Analytics, e.g. Advanced Analytics services
- Create a roadmap for the Data to Insights strategy of Nouryon
Job Requirements
Experience / Education
- Master / bachelor’s degree in business management, computer science, computer engineering, or a related field of study
- Professional with at least 3 years of experience as Data Engineer, preferably with Microsoft Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Cosmos DB and Azure SQL Server
- Certified MS Azure Data Engineer (DP-200 and preferably DP-201)
- Experience with at least one of following activities: build cloud-based data pipelines, apply machine learning models, design a big data infrastructure in the Cloud
- Experience in and knowledge of relational databases, data modelling, data warehouses, metadata and ETL with Microsoft SQL Server, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS
- Knowledge of tools like: Python, Java, Spark or Kafka
- Knowledge of SAP Business Warehouse is an advantage
- Experience with working in Agile/ Scrum teams;

- Act as sparring partner for DevOps teams in refinement - or team sessions.
- Deliver Solution Directions for assigned User Stories, creating visual diagrams and proposals.
- Taking ownership of structural challenges which cannot be solved operationally and require a more fundamental, structured, analytical approach
Other requirements
- Preferably working experience in a similar role in a company like Nouryon.
- High standard of personal and interpersonal leadership.
- Experience: 10+ years of relevant experience.
- Experience in (agile) IT project implementation and change management process.
- Business process modelling and application architecture design (logical and physical) – frameworks (UML), tools, technologies, methodologies.
