The Procurement Legal Manager is a qualified legal professional with substantial knowledge of a procurement organization and the related legal environment. You must be an experienced contract manager and negotiator responsible for the legal aspects of procurement contracts.
Must be a contract law generalist with substantial legal knowledge in contract and commercial law and a basic understanding of legal topics such as corporate law, competition law, litigation law, intellectual property (IP) law, and general compliance topics. You need to have excellent organizational and contract management skills and be able to manage and keep oversight over a large number of contracts worldwide.
You must have sound and practical legal, ethical, and commercial judgment, be able to prioritize matters, be a problem-solver and a self-starter who will communicate clearly, and be proactive and responsive. You need to act with a high level of independence while being a team player and be comfortable engaging with members at all levels on the procurement team and legal group.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage contracts, contract tools, and contract intake processes.
- Provide basic legal advice and support to the Nouryon global procurement team in the drafting and negotiation of a variety of commercial and other procurement agreements.
- Maintain procurement contract templates and provide training to colleagues within the procurement team.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- J.D. or paralegal degree from an accredited law school with admission to at least one U.S. state bar. Significant legal contract management experience may be considered as an alternative.
- 3 – 6+ years relevant working experience, experience within a multinational in-house legal department is a significant advantage.
- Extensive experience in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial agreements and other legal documents (including the purchase of goods and services contracts, consultancy agreements, IT agreements, licensing agreements, outsourcing contracts, and engineering contracts).
- Excellent contract management skills, including the use of procurement contract management tools and systems, managing and tracking the developments of contract negotiations worldwide, being able to prioritize based on urgency, contract value, and risk profile
- Team Player; ability to work well and build relationships across all levels of the organization and be highly effective and able to maximize the efficiency of the procurement department, but still be self-motivated and able to work independently; have the desire to work on numerous matters arising in a procurement department; ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues in other offices around the world
