The Technology Group Polymer Specialties is responsible for process know-how, process design specifications, implementation of HSE guidelines (process safety) and process optimizations. In this role you will support the organic peroxide sites in the Business Unit Polymer Specialties to be involved in capex projects and to improve the volume output of the plants.
Primary area of responsibility is the metal alkyls production site at LaPorte, Texas, but work can include activities for other metal alkyls / complex organic production sites, for example Rotterdam (Netherlands), Deventer (Netherlands), Jiaxing (China) and other (potential future) production locations. Balance between these 3 key objectives is determined by business needs and can result in having to work 100% on one of these objectives.
Primary responsibilities:
In this role you will support the organic peroxide sites in the Business Unit Polymer Specialties to be involved in capex projects and to improve the volume output of the plants.
This includes:
Debottlenecking, identify options for capacity or OEE improvement
Benchmarking of organic peroxide processes across the sites
Actively pursue and participate in improving current technologies and identifying new technologies
Potentially assist sites to realize the implementation of these improvements
Prepare process modifications and implement new products and processes in cooperation with R&D and the sites
Act as technology licensor and/or lead process engineer in CapEx projects
Prepare process design / basic engineering package for smaller CapEx projects
Participate as a process engineer in Hazard Studies
Assist in commissioning and startup of CapEx projects (e.g. as CSU manager for smaller projects)
Collect and drive input from process research and safety research/engineers in CapEx projects
Define and drive plant trials on sites related to CapEx projects
Job Requirements:
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in process engineering
MSc Chemical Engineering (Bachelor with additional experience acceptable)
Operational experience with batch liquid reactor systems
Experience as a process engineer in capex projects
Good oral and written communication skills in English language
Team player and good communicator
Independent, assertive and progressive
Willing to travel nationally and internationally for the job when needed, on average 10% of the time, typically several days but in rare occasions could be several weeks.
