Summary

Support all activities regarding Quality Control & Quality Assurance related to the Morris site. Responsible for performing analytical testing of daily production samples, instrumentation analyses, and documentation.  Ensure all materials conform to all applicable company standards and specifications.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform routine quantitative and qualitative analysis to determine chemical and physical properties of Nouryon products and related raw materials.
  • Utilize various chemical wet analytical techniques and instrumental techniques (GC, HPLC, FTIR, etc.)
  • Perform standard procedures to calibrate instruments, standardize titrants, and make reagents/indicators.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work area and documents results according to standards
  • Work actively with QC Manager & Specialist to perform non-routine analyses in service of Root Cause Problem Solving.
  • Troubleshoot QC Laboratory analytical instruments under the guidance of Instrument Chemist
  • Monitor chemical inventory and supplies
  • Execute training of new QC Technicians

Requirements

Education: AA/BA/BS Degree in Chemistry or a science related field

 

Experience:

  • Laboratory skills training – schooling or on the job
  • Solid understanding of test equipment in a typical analytical lab

 

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated ability to assess and prioritize multiple tasks while working under pressure in a deadline-driven environment
  • Strong analytical skills: highly numerate, structured, organized, and accurate; Analytical mind set with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Desire to learn; take on challenges and responsibilities
  • Advanced level computer skills (i.e., spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, SAP)
  • Must be able to work in a team-oriented environment

 

Shift Schedule: Rotating shift on a monthly basis, which alternates between day and night shifts. 12 hour shift schedule.
