Business Development Manager - NA Paints

The Business Development Manager is responsible for identifying attractive new business opportunities to grow the Nouryon business in the North American paint market.  He/she will develop a prospecting strategy and build customer relationships which facilitate new sales and business growth.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Marketing, Business Administration, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or Engineering-related discipline
  • Candidates with an MBA are desirable

Experience:

  • A minimum of 10 years experience in sales, marketing or product management roles selling into the NA decorative paints industry
  • Candidates who have experience working for a decorative paint manufacturer are also encouraged to apply
  • Knowledge of the NA decorative paint market with an established network of contacts with potential customers, trade organizations, and other industry stakeholders

Required Skills:

  • Fluency in English
  • Results-driven and self-starter
  • Ability to build relationships with potential lead sources
  • Proven track record of growing new and existing businesses
  • Demonstrates a high level of interpersonal, verbal, and relationship building skills in order to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external contacts
  • Willingness to travel to meet with customers, innovation centers, HQ, etc. as needs dictate
  • Strong business and financial acumen
  • Good understanding of formulations and applications

 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create a prospecting strategy to identify and engage new customers and develop sales opportunities
  • Generate leads and build relationships by nurturing prospects and finding new potential sales outlets
  • Set up meetings or calls between (prospective) customers and Nouryon stakeholders
  • Drive customer engagement at new accounts through a consultative sales approach supported by industry knowledge
  • Develop and deliver compelling value propositions and messaging for targeted customers
  • Build and manage a pipeline of qualified new business opportunities utilizing CRM
  • Facilitate effective new customer communication, including formal presentations, conversations, active listening, and follow-up.
  • Secure customer approvals for high priority new product launches at targeted accounts
