Section Manager

The Section Manager will lead the Oilfield R&D team in the development of new products and/or redesign of existing products/processes/services in accordance with business and customer needs. More specifically to apply specialized understanding of formulation and application knowledge to the area of Oilfield to deliver technical service and new product development solutions.

In your future role as Section Manager, you will 

• Provide technical insight into project feasibility, provide technical support in the way of experimental work, at times taking the lead role on a specific project and on multiple projects simultaneously. Also lead and coach team members on these aspects. 
• Ensure the right level of support is provided based on the size of an opportunity and the urgency of the request.
• Define and execute the Oilfield R&D plan including customer visits, publications, and presentation at conferences. 
• Drive knowledge management by keeping up with internal and external developments and ensuring development, transfer and retention of knowledge and information within the R&D team and M&S organization
• Provide effective HSE management by ensuring that the OF R&D team operates according to the site safety standards
• Attract, lead, coach, appraise, and develop team members, ensuring short- and long-term resource planning and driving engagement and managing talent development and succession planning.
• As an active member of Natural Resources (NR) R&D leadership team you will support delivery of NR RD PKIs (NPI, project progress, …) in agreement with R&D Vice President 
• Drive and prioritize the Oilfield product innovation agenda together with marketing to deliver on product development to support new Business growth
• Provide the Nouryon Sales organization and our customers with effective technical services to sustain and grow existing Business.
• Ensure that the Oilfield R&D team keeps abreast of new technology trends and changing market needs in the Oilfield space to foster a relevant and future orientated innovation portfolio.
• Ensure that all department work is performed in accordance with existing HSES laws and regulations as well as Nouryon corporate directives.

We believe you bring

• MSC or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or similar field 
• 5-10 years of oilfield application experience
• 3-5 years of leadership & people management experience 
• 3-5 years of project leadership & portfolio management experience 
• Proven experience of formulation & application of oilfield chemistry
• Experience of different parts of R&D function and business lines
• Experience working with teams/customers/partners across global regions
• Experience with customer collaboration & external research collaboration
