Process Automation Engineer 

The Process Automation Engineer will support the industrial process automation needs at the Morris, IL site. Including but not limited to process automation analysis and troubleshooting, project conception, detail design and development, project management, commissioning and start up. This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Process and Quality Control Manager.

In your future role as Process Automation Engineer you will 

• Support and troubleshoot plant production automation needs at a 24/7 facility
• Manage life cycle of the plant control system
• Identify opportunities for automation improvement and present potential solutions
• Support CAPEX project work:
  • Thorough Front End Loading development of projects
  • Develop and maintain design, equipment and safety documentation
  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training to other departments as needed
  • Lead commissioning and startup activities
• Support the development and execution of the PSM program
  • Participate in PHAs, design and implement layers of protection projects
• Support production and maintenance departments in projects, planning, organizing and supervision as needed.
• Assist in developing or improving site engineering standards and procedures
• Maintain and develop a professional competency consistent with industry and Nouryon standards.
• Support Continuous Improvement program for the site, such as cost reducing and optimization project design, execution, and management.
• Set example of excellence for others to follow
• Other duties and assignments as directed by manager.

We believe you bring

• Bachelor's degree in science or similar, engineering preferred 
• Minimum 3+ years of engineering, plant operations, or technical experience; 7+ years of experience preferred 
• Commitment to safety culture; experience working within a PSM & union site preferred
• Experience with control systems technology preferred (DeltaV, Foxboro I/A & Modicon)
• Experience designing and managing chemical industry automation control systems and instrumentation
• Willingness to perform off-hours automation support
• Ability to identify improvement opportunities and develop solutions
• Ability to lead efforts of change that affect multiple stakeholders
• Strong attention to detail and passion for solving problems quickly
• Proficiency in analyzing data and trends
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Experience with function block diagram, ladder logic, structured text, batch recipes preferred 
• Windows based computer system administration experience preferred 
• Ethernet network communication experience preferred 
• CAPEX project design and execution experience preferred 
• Proficiency in root cause problem solving preferred 
• Experience with Process Historian (OSI Pi) preferred 

Compensation Information

The hiring salary range for this position ranges from $99,000 to $141,400, although individuals may eventually progress through the pay scale in this role up to $183,800. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role as well as the individuals’ qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive annual bonuses.
