Purpose/Key Objectives of the Job
Regional procurement of logistics (all aspects; specify, negotiate, contract etc.) for one of the sub-category Road packed, Road Bulk or Sea freight (50%)
Support development of a coherent regional Logistics plan aligned with the Logistics Strategy and the individual BU/SMU logistics requirements (20%)
Contribute to the continuous cross BU assessment and benchmarking to identify logistics improvement opportunities (10%)
Participates in projects on logistics procurement related topics. (10%)
Assists in logistics procurement reporting to purchase management & BU/SMU stakeholders (10%)
Support to develop and deploy The Logistics Strategy aligned with the BU/SMU/Site requirements / strategy
Exploit synergies among all SMUs in NAM and across regions logistics network(s) identifying, developing and implementing the optimal AkzoNobel regional logistics footprint. Lead the benchmarking in NAM.
Deliver savings with P/L impact and process optimizations to SMUs
Deliver continuous logistics improvements.
Support commercial controls to fully leverage Nouryon power in the market to secure maximum benefit to individual BU/SMU’s
Support logistics tenders and strategic sourcing activities
Contract development, approval & input to strategic contract review meetings
Lead supplier meetings
Contribute to modelling & simulation, footprint development, logistics mode selection to ensure cross BU/SMU synergies and benefits are captured.
Ensure logistics tools & processes are used in the ‘ready to serve” arena
Transfer best practices among NAM SMUs
Continuous influencing various stakeholders through different phases of the logistics maturity process. Guide and council how conclusions are being made and how to implement.
Being continuously innovative towards market developments to implement improvements in the logistic set-up in cost, service and culture. This requires commercial and influential skills, frequently leading to a situation that the job holder knows more/better about the business sales requirements than business itself.
Essential educational qualifications, relevant experience and requested skills.
Business or engineering degree at academic / bachelor level
Academic; 4+ years and Bachelor, 7+ years of relevant work experience in logistics/supply chain activities.
Strong background in logistics operations and HSE requirements (warehousing and transportation).
Strong analytical & interpersonal skills and ability to influence and guide others.
Experience with lean management methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
Knowledge of sourcing strategy creation (Strategic Sourcing Methodology).
Experience in Sourcing and contract management.
Experience with project management.
Good communication skills.
