Nouryon has an outstanding opportunity for an Accounting Specialist Unclaimed Property in Houston, TX.

 

  •  Lead the unclaimed property process for the Americas regional accounting center
  • Manage the property tax coordination with third parties
  • Liaison between the Regional Accounting Center, credit control and the treasury department

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the unclaimed property reporting process
    • collecting and assessing data together with Treasury team
    • GL posting
    • client follow up
    • compliance reporting to the state and filing annual reports
    • work with BDO on filings
  • Manage the property tax coordination with third parties
  • Responsible for reconciling local SAP electronic payment returns and open checks (payment runs) against the Treasury system
    • Create procedures and works with Business units to train and maintain operating standards
  • Monitoring of In House Bank (IHB) limits and review authorizations
  • Responsible for specific accounting areas in the region (e.g. intercompany, treasury experience, GL, legal entities, legacy accounting)
  • Knowledge of IFRS and Finance & Economic Manual (FEM)
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes and controls and drive continuous improvement
  • Drive changes in policies (e.g. training / SOP / policy / communications)

Job Qualifications

  • B.S. in Accounting or Finance required
  • Accounting professional with 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance with IFRS experience a plus, and capable of analyzing complex processes and issues
  • Preferably has working experience with unclaimed property
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Drive standardization across BUs in the region and guards the integrity and quality of the delivered accounting in the specific area
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience in SAP; proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook); experience with Hyperion Financial Management a plus
  • Highly analytical; accurate with an attention to detail
  • Ability to build relationships with customers/stakeholders in a multi-national environment
  • Drive standardization across BUs in the region and guards the integrity and quality of the delivered accounting in the specific area
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and meet strict deadlines and manage pressure. Overtime may be required during month end close, tax deadlines and other critical projects.
