Nouryon has an outstanding opportunity for an Accounting Supervisor in Houston, TX.



  • Supervises, coordinates and participates in execution of accounting activities
  • Monitors the processes to safeguard reliable, timely and complete transactional and specialist accounting, as well as safeguard archiving and documenting work as required for effective accounting and internal control
  • Identifies improvements and initiates improvement projects
  • Ensures tax compliance both direct and indirect
  • Review unclaimed property accounts such as rebates, commissions, and unallocated cash have processes and are being analyzed
  • Manage and review payroll accounts, environmental, and pension issues
  • Backup for payroll, environmental, and pension
  • Assist in audit functions
  • Ensure Unclaimed Property compliance
  • Develops people within the team, and facilitates rotation/step-up within the RAC organization.
  • Initiates and leads further improvements of the organizational framework, procedures and work processes, in compliance with governance laws, IFRS and global directives
  • Harmonize processes between the team members, and initiates documentation of and adherence to these new processes
  • Ensure implementation of global Finance initiatives
  • Manages performance of the team and initiates the reshuffling of tasks between RAC team members
  • Responsible for specific accounting areas in the region (e.g. intercompany, treasury experience, GL, legal entities, legacy accounting)
  • Knowledge of IFRS and Finance & Economic Manual (FEM)
  • Identify opportunities to improve and automate processes and controls and drive continuous improvement
  • Drive changes in policies (e.g. training / SOP / policy / communications)

    • Able to work with deadlines and pressure, e.g., during month closing

    • Ability to act independently within the given process
  • Education and Experience (Functional Technical Capabilities):
    • High education in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance (Bachelor/Master)
    • Very good knowledge of accounting in ERP systems, preferably SAP
    • At least 7 years of relevant working experience
    • Experienced in using Microsoft Office
    • Bilingual Spanish a plus
