Nouryon has an outstanding opportunity for an “Logistics Category Specialist” in Houston, TX.


Job Purpose


  • Deploy the Logistics Strategy aligned with the business / site requirements / strategy and deliver optimal Total Cost of ownership for regional procurement of logistics
  • Local and domestic categories or
  • International Categories


Key Accountabilities


  • Deploy the Logistics Strategy aligned with the business/site requirements
  • Deliver regional procurement of logistics according to set objectives
  • Deliver continuous improvements by contributing to cross-business assessment and benchmarking to identify logistics improvement opportunities
  • Deliver agreed savings with P/L impact and process optimizations to businesses
  • Ensure successful implementation of logistics change projects by providing risk management support


Key Activities


  • Support development of a coherent regional logistics plan aligned with the Logistics Strategy and the individual businesses logistics requirements
  • Support raising logistics capability across the region
  • Contribute to the continuous cross-business assessment and benchmarking to identify logistics improvement opportunities
  • Provide risk management support for the implementation of Logistics change projects
  • Perform regional procurement of logistics (all aspects; specify, negotiate, contract etc. for categories Road Bulk, Road Packed, Warehousing and Leasing)
  • Participate in projects on logistics procurement related topics
  • Exploit synergies among all businesses in region and across region
  • Identify logistics network(s), develop and implement the optimal Nouryon regional logistics footprint.
  • Lead the benchmarking in the region
  • Support commercial controls to fully leverage Nouryon’s power in the market to secure maximum benefit to individual businesses
  • Lead logistics tenders and strategic sourcing activities
  • Contract development, approval & input to strategic contract review meetings
  • Lead supplier meetings
  • Contribute to modelling & simulation, footprint development, logistics mode selection to ensure cross-business synergies and benefits are captured
  • Ensure logistics tools & processes are used in the ‘ready to serve” arena
  • Transfer best practices among businesses in the region
  • Assist in logistics procurement reporting to purchase management & business stakeholders  



Education / Experiences preferred:


  • Business or engineering degree at bachelor/university level


Experiences preferred:

  • At least 5 years relevant work experience in logistics/supply chain activities
  • Strong background in logistics operations and HSE requirements (warehousing and transportation)
  • Strong analytical & interpersonal skills and ability to influence and guide others
  • Experience with lean management methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma
  • Knowledge of sourcing strategy creation (Strategic Sourcing Methodology)
  • Experience in Sourcing and contract management
  • Experience with project management
