Nouryon Performance Formulations, is one of the world's top producers of Specialty Chemicals that go into a range of industries and everyday use such as agriculture, oilfields, lubes & fuels, cleaning, asphalt, personal care etc. The Tolling Quality Engineer Americas is also responsible for recipe and process documentation and ensuring compliance to relevant standards at tollers.

 

We have a great opportunity for a Tolling Engineer position, in Houston, TX.

 

 

Job Objective:

Support growth through set up and qualification of new tollers. Coordinate technical support and see to the completion of major process improvement projects associated with the support of our tolling operations.  Activities include, process analysis, project implementation, design, development, and support tollers in daily operations through process support, project management and start up support.  A key deliverable will be project management on new tollers, and the maintenance of process know how (documentation) with a focus on continuous improvement of the supported processes from both a technology and cost standpoint.

 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

Manage all aspects of major project work associated with tolling operations, including new toller qualification & set-up.

Manage the technology transfer and support for tolling operations.

Focal point, coordinate and participates in the process design and start-up activities as required, to support tolling operations.

As a key focal point for all technician aspects, manage support from other key stakeholders and resources (i.e. Production, Maintenance, R&D and Engineering / Technology departments, as needed to support tolling operations).

Assess and maintain proper compliance with HSE & Quality Standards set-up for tolling operations. Responsible for customer and performance complaints, while focuses on structural improvements.

Maintain and develop a professional competency and consistency within the industry and Nouryon standards.

Identify the need for and coordinate training of personnel, engineers, operators etc. at tollers, in equipment and/or process changes and provides technical support, as needed.   

Responsible for maintaining proper and accurate Bill of Materials for products that are tolled. 

Responsible for maintaining recipe and process documentation that supports products that are tolled (operating manuals, packaging manuals etc.). 

Performs routine yield and cost analysis on these operations.

Responsible for providing and entering recipe information for the SAP Process.

Support operational activities, as needed.

 

Job Requirements:

B.S. Chemical Engineering or related technology degree

3-8 years in project and/or process experience in Plant Environment

Knowledge of chemical plant production

Proficient experience in SAP and Excel (Production Planning, Quality Modules, etc.)

Knowledge of process control computers

Able to read, write and communicate in English

Must be able to wear steel toed shoes and hard hat when visiting tollers

Must be physically capable to operate/work in a plant environment

Willingness to travel
