Purpose/Key objective of the position

Support growth through set up and qualification of new tollers. Coordinate technical support and see to the completion of major process improvement projects associated with the support of our tolling operations.  Activities include, process analysis, project implementation, design, development, liaison with stakeholders & support functions and support tollers in daily operations through process support, project management and start up support.  A key deliverable will be project management on new tollers and the maintenance of process know how (documentation) with a focus on continuous improvement of the supported processes from both a technology and cost standpoint.


Principal accountabilities


1.   Manages all aspects of major project work associated with tolling operations including new toller qualification & set up.

2.   Manages the technology transfer and support for tolling operations

3.   Is focal point, coordinates and participates in process design and start up activities as required to support tolling operations

4.   As a key focal point for all technical aspects, manages support from other key stakeholders and resources (i.e. Production, Maintenance, R&D and Engineering / Technology departments needed to support tolling operations).

5.   Assess and maintain proper compliance with HSE & quality standards set up for tolling operations. Follows through on customer and performance complaints and focuses on structural improvements.

6.   Maintains and develops a professional competency, consistent with industry and Nouryon standards.

7.   Identifies the need for and coordinates training of personnel, engineers, operators etc. at tollers, in equipment and/or process changes and provides technical support when necessary.

8.   Responsible for ensuring quality of production at the toller location by auditing, sampling, reviewing batch sheets as well as liaison with internal stakeholders. Investigate and resolve customer complaints as the main point of contact.

9.   Responsible for maintaining proper and accurate Bill of Materials for products that are tolled.  Is also responsible for maintaining recipe and process documentation that supports products that are tolled (operating manuals, packaging manuals etc.).  Performs routine yield and cost analysis on these operations.

10. Is responsible for providing and entering recipe information for the SAP process.

11. Could be asked to support operational activities in need.

2. Coordinate to support troubleshooting and improvement initiatives at tollers.              3. Provide input on toller capabilities and support in auditing requirements

2. Coordinate to evaluate VC variances.                             

3. Support NPI evaluations



1. Liaise to support NPIs and improvement projects at tollers.                         

2. Coordinate to support troubleshooting and improvement initiatives at tollers.              3. Provide input on toller capabilities and support in auditing requirements



1. Liaise to support cost improvement projects at tollers.                          

2. Coordinate for NPI projects.             

3. Review supplier performances and improvements



1. Liaise to develop capability assessments for tollers and gaps at our manufacturing sites.                                                       

2. Coordinate to support NPIs, complaints and improvement projects.                            3. Provide input on toller capabilities and support in risk management planning


External Tollers

1. Liaise to support quality management and process control.                         

2. Coordinate to support troubleshooting and process improvement initiatives.               3. Maintain documentation on products, processes and capabilities



Job requirements

Theoretical qualifications, practical experience and essential functions

-B.S. Chemical Engineering or related technology degree

-3-8 years in project and/or process experience in plant environment

–Knowledge of chemical plant production

–Proficient in Excel

–Hands on experience in SAP (Production Planning, Quality Modules)

–Knowledge of process control computers

–Able to read, write and communicate in English

–Must be able to wear steel toed shoes and hard hat when visiting tollers

–Must be physically capable to operate/work in a plant environment

-Willingness to travel
