Sodium sulfide flakes is a yellow solid provided as hydrate with a 40% crystal water content. It can be used as process aid for dehairing (tanneries), as auxiliary in cellulose production, for coloration of textiles and as flocculent for wastewater treatment (metal precipitant).

Sodium sulfide is predominately kraft process in the pulp and paper industry. Other applications can include use in water treatment, chemical photography, texile and leather industry and as chemical intermediate in a wide variety of industrial processes.
