Maintenance Manager

The Maintenance Manager is accountable for plant assets integrity and reliability through ensuring the maintenance team competences and execution of the Company's Asset Maintenance Management (AMM) program. The assets to be maintained are defined as production and shipping equipment, facilities, IT, and communication systems on site. The Manager will lead Maintenance Technicians and serve as the Maintenance Planner and Scheduler in addition to owning the process for the AMM program. 


Primary Responsibilities:

Asset Maintenance Management (AMM) Program

  • Ensure asset integrity and reliability through ensuring the maintenance team competences and execution of the AMM process
  • Maintain production and shipping equipment, facilities, IT and communication systems on site
  • Lead and ensure the AMM program takes place in a safe and cost effective mannager
  • Identify opportunities to enhance AMM process, achieve improved cost effectiveness and efficiencies, teamwork and ensured asset reliability. (E.g of KPI’s: Planned hours vs. Actual Hours, Backlog of unplanned work orders, Craft utilization, PM Compliance, Weekly schedule Compliance)
  • Accountable for asset documentation is up to date in SAP, digital files and/or paper file archive
  • Creates, implement, and sustain a Preventive Maintenance program
  • Lead the development of the maintenance annual budget, continuously monitoring cost performance versus budget and taking necessary actions to achieve committed results at or below budget
  • Accountable for maintenance costs and inventory of maintenance related operating working capital (OWC)to stay within budget


Maintenance Planner

  • Prepare overview of work permit requirements, maintenance input to work permits and JSA as part of job packages
  • Provide cost guestimates and update cost estimates for execution decisions
  • Provide detailed job plans that ensure safe and efficient execution of all maintenance jobs. (for internal resources and externals services)
  • Ensure timely call-off of materials and services including creation of purchase request for necessary components & consumables
  • Lead the planning, coordination and execution of a yearly turnaround
  • Set-up a turnaround room
  • Identify turnaround jobs (revision coded)
  • Create task lists for all jobs to be executed and publish in turnaround room
  • Hold meetings with all functions at the site and external contractors to plan and schedule (frozen schedule 3 weeks before turnaround start)
  • Identify organization for turnaround week(s) including resources for unforeseen jobs
  • Ensure all planned jobs have a prepared permit to work at latest one week before start of turnaround in turnaround room


Maintenance Scheduler

  • Develop weekly schedules based on negotiated production unit priorities and current business environment to optimize the use of site wide available resources and/or contractors
  • Ensure appropriate scheduling logic including amount of preventative maintenance work vs. corrective work
  • Lead Weekly Scheduling meeting with Gatekeeper and bring a schedule proposal based on:
  • PMs ready for execution to be in compliance.
  • Corrective orders who have received material (kitted)
  • WIP (work in progress) work orders
  • Publish and update daily and weekly schedules to affected work groups 



Education & Experience

  • MS in Mechanical engineering or equivalent experience preferred
  • Mechanical engineering with >5 years’ experience from process industry preferred
  • Experience from chemical process industry
  • People management experience (5+ years of leadership role)


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Advanced level in computer skills (i.e. spreadsheets, Microsoft Office, SAP)
  • Good knowledge about health, safety, work environment and HSE regulations
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
