Today Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals) celebrates the 25th anniversary of its Boxing site, one of the company’s first chemical production locations in China.

Nouryon is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its Battleground site in Texas, which pioneered the production of metal alkyls used in the production of high-volume plastics and rubbers and in the manufacture of semiconductors.

Today, we are celebrating two years as a stand-alone company. During that time, it has made significant progress in driving efficiencies and increasing profitability while continuing to invest in supporting the growth of its customers. Now, the company is taking a further step to accelerate growth with a new company strategy that aims to exceed customer expectations, outgrow the competition, and increase the share of specialties in its portfolio.

On September 27, 2022, Nouryon partnered with technology venture-capital company Icos Capital on the Swedish cross-sector Innovation Summit Accelerating Sustainability in Gothenburg, Sweden. 

Commissioning a chlorine dioxide plant to modernize and expand the Arauco pulp mill in Chile. The project, called the MAPA project, is a $2.35 billion pulp mill and is the largest industrial project in the Biobío region. The new plant adds 1.56 million tons per year of eucalyptus pulp capacity to Arauco’s footprint that will be supplied to its customers.

Nouryon announced a long-term agreement and the successful commissioning of rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) systems at its two production facilities on Jurong Island, in Singapore. Developed and installed by EDP Renewables APAC (EDP), this project marks the completion of Nouryon’s first power purchase agreement and onsite solar project in Singapore, representing a milestone in the Company’s global sustainability journey.

Announcing completion of a production capacity expansion of nearly 50% for its Levasil® colloidal silica products at its manufacturing facility in Green Bay, Wisconsin, US. The increase addresses rising demand for colloidal silica, particularly in North America, and strategically expands the Company’s global colloidal silica manufacturing footprint to serve both regional and global customers.

We have completed its previously announced acquisition of the carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) business of J.M. Huber Corporation. The transaction will significantly broaden our portfolio of products in CMC, a sustainable, bio-based water-soluble polymer used as a thickener, binder, stabilizer and film former.

Nouryon has completed the divestment of its redispersible polymer powders business to Celanese Corporation.

Nouryon has completed a €20 million project at Sundsvall, Sweden that significantly raises production capacity for its Expancel expandable microspheres. These are used to enhance the properties of products ranging from shoe soles and food packaging to wind turbines.

Nouryon announced today that it has completed the capacity expansion for organic peroxides at its manufacturing facility in Ningbo, China. The expansion has doubled the production capacity to 6,000 tons each of Perkadox® 14 and Trigonox® 101 organic peroxide products.

Nouryon has completed a project to more than double capacity for organic peroxides at its plant in Itupeva, Brazil. The expansion will add capacity for products including methyl ethyl ketone peroxides (MEKP) as well as dibenzoyl peroxide (BPO) pastes and waxes.

Nouryon (formerly AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals) has completed a €4 million expansion at Mahad, India which will increase organic peroxides production capacity at the site by 80 percent.
