Bermocoll® EHEC (ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose) and MEHEC (methyl ethyl hydroxyethyl cellulose) are non-ionic cellulose ethers, manufactured by a unique, solvent-free process, ensuring you a low carbon footprint and cellulose with carefully calculated performance characteristics.
We are the only producer in the world of EHEC and MEHEC. These are manufactured using cellulose from wood or cotton linters via alkalization, ethoxylation and reaction with ethyl- and methyl-chloride.
EHEC and MEHEC can also be reacted with longer chain hydrophobes, producing hydrophobically modified cellulose, HM-(M)EHEC, used as associative thickeners.
Our Bermocoll products are used as rheology modifiers in a variety of industrial applications to create desired performance enhancements for both drymix mortars and paints.
CMC (Sodium Carboxymethyl cellulose) is an anionic water soluble polymer derived from cellulose. We offer both technical and purified CMC. CMC is made via alkalization, followed by carboxymethylation with monochloroacetic acid (MCA). For purified CMC the process is followed by purification by washing with an ethanol water mixture. It functions as a thickener, binder, stabilizer, protective colloid, suspending agent, gelling agent, and flow control agent. This makes it suitable for use in a variety of industries.
For the food and beverage industry, Akucell® and Cekol® Cellulose gums are trusted brand names that deliver the right consistency and taste. Additionally these grades can be used in personal care and pharmaceutical applications. Finnfix® CMCs provide desired rheology, excellent water retention and film forming capability for a range of industrial applications, such as paper surface treatment, mining, fabric care, textile and ceramics.
Products in our Celect® portfolio are used as depressants in flotation systems, and our Peridur® brands provide binding and pelletizing benefits to mining and other industries.

Products manufactured from wood cellulose are fulfilling the GMO-free requirements. The product hydrates and dissolves readily in hot and cold water.
