Main uses include production of: MCA esters, carboxymethyl cellulose, carboxymethyl starch, thioglycolic acid, crop protection chemicals (MCPA, 2,4-D, dimethoate, glyphosate), cyanoacetic acid (incl. esters), barbiturates, malonic acid (incl. esters and derivates), vitamins, sequestering agents (EDTA), glycine, dyes (indigo and derivates), chloroacetylchloride (CAC), surfactants
