Applications
Trigonox 101-E50 is an efficient peroxide formulation for the controlled rheology of polypropylene (CR-PP) in the temperature range of 200-250°C. The diluted form of Trigonox 101 in mineral oil allows a more accurate dosage of the peroxide to the polymer. Also a more homogeneous distribution of the peroxide throughout the polymer is of advantage. The white oil acts in PP also as a plasticizer to facilitate molding, e. g. for the fabrication of syringes for injectors. Trigonox 101-E50 allows polypropylene producers great flexibility in controlling a polymer's Melt Flow Index (MFI). Small changes in either peroxide concentration or process temperature can produce significantly different MFI's. Examples of this flexibility can be seen in Figure 1 where the relationship between MFI and peroxide concentration is shown at three temperatures.
