About the job:

 

Nouryon is looking for an HSES Manager to join our team in Columbus, Mississippi. In this role, you will lead the site's Health, Safety, Environmental and Security programs, ensuring regulatory compliance while driving a strong safety culture and continuous improvement.

 

As a key site leader, you'll partner across the organization to manage HSES performance, reduce risk, and support safe and responsible operations.

 

In your future role as a HSES Manager, you will:

 

  • Lead site HSES compliance with corporate requirements and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Drive safety initiatives that address unsafe conditions and at-risk behaviors, including the SCAN process and plant safety committee.
  • Oversee the Plant Emergency Response Organization (PERO) and ensure compliance with OSHA, Responsible Care, and corporate directives.
  • Review and authorize high-risk permit-to-work activities.
  • Manage site security requirements, including alignment with DHS requirements.
  • Support employee health and wellness programs, medical records, and fitness-for-duty evaluations in partnership with HR.
  • Manage environmental compliance, permitting, waste management, and improvement initiatives in accordance with EPA, MDEQ, ISO, Responsible Care, and corporate requirements.
  • Serve as a key user of Enablon to track incidents, near misses, hazards, BBS observations, audits, MOCs, regulatory reporting, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain Responsible Care and ISO certifications in partnership with the Responsible Care Coordinator.
  • Develop and manage the HSES department budget and support the site's annual budgeting process.
  • Support community outreach as a key point of contact and alternate site spokesperson.
  • Manage HSES-related supplies, services, and consumables in accordance with purchasing guidelines. 

 

We believe you bring:

 

  • A technical or engineering degree with 5+ years of industry-related HSE&S experience.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical information related to plant operations.
  • Knowledge and experience working safely within a chemical manufacturing environment, including around rotating, stationary, and high-voltage equipment.
  • Ability to safely work in an industrial environment, including climbing multiple levels, working indoors and outdoors in varying noise conditions, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • The knowledge and leadership capability to safely direct the work of others.
  • Ability to comply with applicable Nouryon RBPS 12 Corporate CFATS Personnel Surety Compliance Policy requirements.
  • Professional licenses or HSE&S-related certifications are preferred.

 

Good to know:

 

  • This is a full-time, onsite position based at our Columbus, Mississippi manufacturing site.
  • The HSES Manager reports to the Site Director and is responsible for leading a team.
