About the job:


The Production Supervisor plays a key role in leading the daily safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the sodium chlorate manufacturing process, driving operational excellence, supporting a strong safety culture, and ensuring consistent product quality

 

In your future role as a Production Shift Supervisor, you will:

 

  • Lead day-to-day operations of the sodium chlorate manufacturing process in alignment with site objectives, procedures, and the requirements of regulatory and certifying agencies related to Safety, Security, Health, Environmental, Quality, Efficiency, and Cost performance (including OSHA, EPA, MDEQ, FDA, ISO, DOT, NSF, OU).
  • Facilitate effective start-of-shift and end-of-shift team meetings, clearly communicating key priorities, objectives, and performance expectations.
  • Champion strong operational discipline on shift, ensuring consistent execution of operating procedures, checklist completion, sampling, leak checks, housekeeping rounds, and related activities.
  • Support, coach, and develop your operating team, including on-the-job training, skills development, and certification recommendations for direct reports.
  • Apply fair and consistent administration of company policies and the Collective Bargaining Agreement, fostering a respectful and productive work environment.
  • Routinely assess unit conditions to help prioritize maintenance activities and coordinate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime and risks.
  • Lead problem-solving and decision-making on shift, effectively communicating plant activities to maintain safe, continuous, and efficient operations.
  • Conduct procedure and process confirmation activities to reinforce compliance, quality, and standard work practices.
  • Maintain a strong, visible presence in the field, ensuring your team is supported with clear priorities, troubleshooting assistance, and technical guidance.
  • Prepare units for maintenance work per the published schedule, including equipment shutdowns, lockout/tagout/tryout execution, and permit-to-work issuance with appropriate quality checks.
  • Provide oversight of the hydrogen peroxide (HP) and logistics areas during night and weekend shifts, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations across the site.

 

 

We believe you bring:

 

  • A High School Diploma/GED with at least 2 years of post-secondary or military education (technical field preferred), or a minimum of 5 years of experience in the chemical industry.
  • Strong ability to read, analyze, interpret, and act on technical data related to plant operations, along with demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
  • Solid math skills, including working with fractions, decimals, percentages, and metric system measurements and conversions, and applying these to operating decisions.
  • Proven capability to troubleshoot and solve practical, real-time operational problems in a plant environment.
  • Ability to interpret sample results and take timely, appropriate corrective or improvement actions.
  • Skill in understanding and accurately following a wide range of instructions in written, verbal, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Experience with and comfort using computer-controlled plant operations and related systems.
  • Physical capability to work in a chemical manufacturing setting around rotating, stationary, and high-voltage equipment; to climb multiple levels; work indoors and outdoors in varying noise and environmental conditions; and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • A strong safety mindset, with the knowledge and judgment required to work safely and to direct the safe work of others.
  • Adequate vision capabilities (close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment) to perform the essential duties of the role safely and effectively.

  • This is an onsite, full time position located in Columbus, MS.
  • This position reports directly into the Production Superintendent.
