Specialty Chemicals and Atul to start MCA production in India in 2019

AkzoNobel and chemicals manufacturing company Atul have formally agreed the joint venture partnership announced last year for the production of monochloroacetic acid (MCA) in India. The companies will establish a new plant at Atul’s facility in Gujarat by first quarter 2019, with each partner holding a 50% stake in the joint venture, to be registered as “ANAVEN”.

Specialty Chemicals and Evonik start up new joint venture plant for chlorine and potassium hydroxide in Germany

AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals and Evonik Industries have successfully started production at their new joint venture to produce chlorine and potassium hydroxide at the company’s Ibbenbüren site in Germany. The facility uses state-of-the-art membrane electrolysis technology to produce up to 120,000 metric tons of potassium hydroxide and 75,000 metric tons of chlorine per year, as well as hydrogen.

Start-up organizations partner with AkzoNobel on global chemistry challenge

AkzoNobel has teamed up with two organizations focused on supporting start-ups, Lux Research and StartupDelta. The partnerships will focus on developing business opportunities stemming from the company’s Imagine Chemistry start-up challenge. Designed to solve real-life chemistry challenges, the initiative has attracted more than 200 submissions.
