In concrete applications, Levasil® colloidal silica works exceptionally well as stabilizer, durability enhancer and strength developer. 

Segregation is controlled, and bleed prevented – making the mix more stable and workable. Easy to use and safe to handle, Levasil® CB is the natural choice for enhancing concrete properties. Within the construction industry colloidal silica is often referred to as nano silica. 

  • In shotcrete, Levasil® colloidal silica acts as a stabilizer improving the sprayability and pumpability characteristics, it reduces rebound and increases maximum thickness build-up and early strength. 
  • In self-consolidating concrete (SCC) and precast – colloidal silica is used to enhance rheological properties in combination with high range water reducing agents (HRWR) poly-carboxylates. 
  • In high performance concrete, colloidal silica reacts with free lime in the concrete, porosity is significantly reduced, making the concrete more durable and resistant to chemical attack. 
  • Colloidal silica works as a finishing aid for freshly laid concrete and is also used for densification of both fresh and old concrete.

The construction industry is always on the lookout for ways to improve concrete performance. Our toolbox also includes foaming and retarding agents as well as hardening accelerators.

Our Dissolvine chelates are applied as efficient retarding agents without any influence on the final strength in building materials such as gypsum and Portland cement. This gives extended use time and self-leveling properties. 
Our surfactants are used as foaming agents, we also offer ethanolamines for use as thickeners rheology modification for concrete and our sodium thiocyanate (NaSCN) are used by the construction industry as a hardening accelerator for cement and concrete mixes.
