In support of Our Sustainable Growth Framework, Nouryon has set the following targets and ambitions to ensure we drive meaningful progress:

• 40% reduction in absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions (Scopes 1 and 2); 10% decrease in total waste intensity; and 10% decrease in freshwater consumption intensity by 2030, all versus a 2019 base year.
• 90% of revenue covered by TfS^[1]-compliant Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs) by 2030.
• 100% of our employees will receive a living wage by 2030 and continuously thereafter.
• In addition, we aspire to become a net-zero organization by 2050

We are hiring a Senior Manager, Business Sustainability. Reporting to the Deputy Chief Sustainability Officer, this position is critical to the long-term success of Nouryon’s sustainability strategy and business growth

In your future role as Senior Manager, Business Sustainability, you will

Purpose:

To help our businesses grow by turning sustainability into practical commercial opportunities. The role supports business teams in creating customer value, driving innovation, and strengthening competitiveness while building the capabilities, tools, and expertise needed to embed sustainability into everyday business decisions

Accountability

• Develop and lead tailored sustainability programs that meet customer needs, support business targets and strengthen Nouryon’s position as a preferred supplier.
• Identify, quantify and communicate the value of Nouryon’s products, translating sustainability benefits into compelling customer value propositions.
• Partner with commercial teams to drive customer engagement, develop sustainability partnerships, and position sustainable solutions as differentiators. This includes substantiating claims with data on product carbon footprints, bio-based content, biodegradability, and other product attributes
• Collaborate across functions, including R&D, Procurement, Marketing, Carbon Business Strategy, to embed sustainability into business strategy, innovation, and portfolio decisions
• Lead Nouryon’s Sustainability Network of business focal points, fostering alignment, knowledge sharing, and execution across businesses.
• Monitor sustainability developments, customer and competitor activities, and market developments, translating insights into strategic recommendations for the business.
• Represent Nouryon in presentations to customers, suppliers and external stakeholders 
• Develop and lead the global Portfolio Sustainability Assessment program, including building the business case and a purpose-driven methodology aligned with globally recognized frameworks that meet audit standards
• Build sustainability capabilities across the organization by developing training, tools, guidance, and best practices that enable commercial and business teams to incorporate sustainability into everyday decision-making.
• Create external communication and disclosures, including customer-facing materials, sales enablement tools, and contributions to Nouryon's Sustainability Report.
• Promote sustainability achievements and best practices internally and externally to strengthen awareness, engagement and Nouryon’s reputation.

We believe you bring

Experience and Business Leadership

• 10+ years of professional experience with a track record of delivering business results through sustainability, commercial, strategy, innovation, or related leadership roles.
• Demonstrated success translating sustainability into customer value, business growth, competitive differentiation, and stronger market positioning.
• Experience partnering with commercial, marketing, innovation, procurement, and business leadership teams to embed sustainability into business strategy and decision-making.

Sustainability and Market Expertise

• Recognized expertise in sustainability topics relevant to customers, products, and value chains, including climate, circularity, responsible sourcing, water, waste, and emerging market expectations.
• Strong knowledge of sustainability methodologies, certifications and frameworks used to support customer requirements and sustainable product offerings, such as Product Carbon Footprints (PCFs), mass balance, ISCC PLUS, RSPO, and related approaches.
• Working knowledge of sustainability regulations and developments affecting products, customers, and supply chains, including CBAM, EUDR, green claims, and Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR).

Strategic and Commercial Capabilities

• Strong business acumen with the ability to identify market opportunities, influence strategy, and support profitable growth.
• Ability to translate complex sustainability topics into practical business insights, customer value propositions, and compelling commercial narratives.
• Proven capability to build organizational knowledge, tools, and processes that enable business teams to integrate sustainability into everyday decisions.

Leadership and Collaboration

• Collaborative and influential leader who builds strong relationships across functions, businesses, geographies, and external stakeholders.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, customers, and partners.
• Self-starter with strong judgment, prioritization, and execution skills in a fast-paced, global environment.

Chemical industry experience preferred.

Education 

• Bachelor’s or university Degree
