Our Polymer Specialties business produces ingredients to produce the polymers for encapsulants and their crosslinking, focusing on ethylene vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyolefin elastomer (POE). These polymers require different products for production and crosslinking.

Solar encapsulants protect photovoltaic (PV) modules, enabling the electricity generation. These polymeric sheets are laminated to silicon wafers and crosslinked with organic peroxides, ensuring at least 25 years of functionality by enhancing UV resistance and durability.

In the fast-growing solar industry, EVA and POEs are widely used. Nouryon offers organic peroxides as initiators for EVA copolymer production. EVA sheets are the fastest-growing segment in PV solar modules, produced through radical polymerization with careful temperature control. Nouryon’s Trigonox® 423 lowers polymerization temperatures, improves efficiency and film clarity, and prevents by-products, making it superior to traditional initiators.
