Nouryon, in collaboration with the Central Road Research Institute (CSIR–CRRI) and the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), hosted the International Conference on Bitumen Emulsion (ICBE) on June 18 in New Delhi, India. The event brought together over 400 delegates from the Indian government, academia, and industry focused on sustainable infrastructure solutions and celebrate Nouryon’s 80-year legacy in the asphalt industry.

The conference spotlighted bitumen emulsions as crucial for enabling more sustainable road paving and maintenance. The large assembly of participants underscored the critical role of bitumen emulsions in India's Vision 2047 for becoming a developed nation and achieving its net-zero target by 2070.

Joe Ferrara, Vice President of Paints and Coatings at Nouryon, welcomed attendees and discussed the role of bitumen emulsions in infrastructure projects and its contribution to a sustainable future. Distinguished guests including Shri Harsh Malhotra, Honourable Minister of State Corporate Affairs and Minister of State in the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Govt. of India, and Shri V. K. Rajawat, Special Secretary and Director General Road Development, MORTH, emphasized the significance of bitumen emulsions in enhancing road longevity and sustainability. Industry leaders and experts shared insights on the emerging applications of this technology in infrastructure development.

The conference featured technical sessions on advancements in pavement technology, road preservation, and diverse applications of bitumen emulsions. Experts shared insights on topics such as cold recycling, microsurfacing, waterproofing, fostering dialogue on advanced materials to support India’s evolving infrastructure and sustainability goals. The event also launched a report titled “Laboratory Study of Performance Bituminous Emulsion for Cold Recycling Technology for Low and High-traffic Pavement”, developed by CSIR–CRRI and sponsored by Nouryon. A poster competition and exhibition showcased advancements in asphalt technology, with awards presented to outstanding contributors.
