Nouryon Showcases Industry Innovations at the European Coatings Show 2025

Nouryon recently took center stage at the European Coatings Show, highlighting its innovative contributions for the paints and coatings industry. This year's event provided an opportunity for Nouryon to demonstrate its expertise and engage with industry professionals through dynamic presentations and discussions.

Nouryon's experts engaged with participants through Short Talks sessions, providing insights into the Company's products and their unique benefits. This interactive format facilitated fruitful discussions on how Nouryon's solutions can be tailored to meet specific formulation needs.

At the heart of Nouryon's exhibit were its specialty additives for paints and coatings formulations. These solutions are tailored to enhance formulations across various applications, including architectural paints, industrial coatings, and building and construction.

Architectural Paints

For architectural paints, Bermocoll® cellulose ethers and Alcogum® HASE polymers provide rheology control that enhances application properties and improves flow and levelling, spatter resistance, and paint stability. Levasil® colloidal silica contributes to longer-lasting paints by increasing dirt pick-up resistance and scratch resistance. Expancel® microspheres serve as lightweight fillers, reducing weight and providing excellent smoothing capabilities.

In addition, Nouryon's wetting, dispersing and stabilizing agents* enhance the sustainability and quality of architectural paints, colorants, and latex resins. During the show, attendees were able to experience brand new First Response Sample Kits, now available in US and Europe, designed to provide access to solution samples.

Industrial Coatings

For industrial coatings, Levasil® colloidal silica offers improved corrosion resistance and mechanical properties in low-VOC coatings. Expancel® microspheres enhance insulation and sound dampening. Thioplast® polysulfides increase the durability of epoxy-based coatings. Trigonox® and Perkadox® polymerization initiators play a crucial role in the production of acrylic coating resins.

Building and Construction

In the building and construction sector, Bermocoll® cellulose ether enhances water retention and adhesion in dry mortar formulations. Levasil® colloidal silica aids in surface densification and water-sealing. Thioplast® polysulfide polymers protect structures from corrosion and deterioration.

New Innovations

Some highlights of Nouryon's participation were the presentations and introduction of two new innovations within architectural paints: Expancel® XS200 microspheres and Bermocoll® EHM MAX.

Expancel® XS200 microspheres offer a breakthrough in interior decorative paint technology by significantly reducing weight without sacrificing performance.

“With our new, innovative Expancel® XS200 microspheres, we are the first to provide the global interior paint industry with a microsphere solution,” said Sylvia Winkel Pettersson, Vice President of Engineered Polymers at Nouryon.

Bermocoll® EHM MAX sets new standards for rheology modifiers in architectural paints, offering up to 10% more efficiency than comparable products while delivering excellent color stability and hiding properties.
