About the job:

 

 

The Process Improvement Engineer leads the deployment and execution of Operational Excellence activities across ISC, with a strong focus on our manufacturing sites. In this role, you’ll work closely with site teams to identify improvement opportunities, lead projects, and help drive performance improvements across operations and supply chain. You’ll also support and coach teams on Nouryon standard processes and Lean Six Sigma tools, helping build a strong continuous improvement culture across the organization.

 

This role focuses primarily on our North American manufacturing sites, with occasional support on regional or global initiatives.

 

Activities in this role require working across multiple functions, helping teams improve efficiency, solve problems, and implement sustainable improvements.

 

This position is ideal for someone who enjoys leading improvement projects, working closely with plant teams, and driving measurable operational results.

 

Work Location:

 

This is a full-time, onsite role (5 days per week) and can be based at either of our manufacturing sites:

 

    • Columbus, MS
    • Axis (LeMoyne), AL

 

 

 

In your future role as Process Improvement Engineer you will:

 

  • Deploy and lead operational excellence programs within ISC and occasionally across other functions

  • Identify improvement opportunities and drive execution of improvement initiatives across sites

  • Serve as a Lean Six Sigma resource, supporting the use of Nouryon ISC processes, tools, and systems

  • Coach and support Lean Six Sigma practitioners within the region

  • Provide clear direction and motivation to plant and functional teams to support performance improvements

  • Strengthen collaboration and teamwork by aligning teams with ISC and company goals

  • Deliver training sessions on continuous improvement tools and methodologies

  • Develop tools, models, and best practices to strengthen operational excellence across ISC

  • Support the deployment of operational excellence programs at manufacturing sites

  • Drive completion of improvement projects and track measurable results

  • Support execution of the ISC and Regional Asset Strategy

  • Guide Lean Six Sigma practitioners toward certification

  • Lead complex improvement projects as directed by the OpEx Lead

  • Participate in strategic improvement meetings to identify gaps and strengthen CI/L6S programs

 

 

 

We believe you bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical field

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certification (Black Belt is a plus but not required)

  • 5–8 years of experience in process improvement, operational excellence, or continuous improvement roles

  • Hands-on experience leading improvement projects in manufacturing or supply chain environments

  • Strong working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools and methodologies (DMAIC, root cause analysis, value stream mapping, etc.)

  • Experience in chemical manufacturing or another process industry is strongly preferred

  • Comfortable working directly with plant teams and driving improvements on the shop floor

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams
