Speakers

Donna Kwapis

North American Sales Manager, Asphalt Applications Donna joined AkzoNobel 1997 in the Commercial Services Unit as a Transportation Specialist and moved to Polymer Chemicals in 1999 as a Product Coordinator and then into a sales role in 2003.  She then joined Construction Specialties in 2011 as an Account Manager and then promoted to NA Sales Manager for Asphalt Applications in 2015. She has been involved with asphalt applications for the last 11 years.  She holds positions on AI’s Marketing Committee,  AI’s Affiliate  Committee and is the AEMA Supplier Committee Chair. She holds a Master’s Degree from North Park University and Bachelor’s Degree from Michigan State University.

Dr. Sundaram Logaraj

Global Technical Marketing Manager, Asphalt Applications Ph.D in Chemistry at Baylor University, Waco, Texas in 1998 Post Doctoral fellow at the Pennsylvania State University in the area of Physical Organic Chemistry from 1989 to 1991. Joined AkzoNobel R&D in 1992 which is now Nouryon. Developed surfactants for various asphalt applications.  Currently Global Technical Marketing Manager for Asphalt Applications.

Dr. Codrin Daranga

Technical Director for the Asphalt Binder Group, Paragon Technical Services Codrin graduated in 1999 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. In December 2005, he earned his PhD in Asphalt Chemistry from Louisiana State University. After graduation Codrin spent several years working in positions within the asphalt industry as well as academia. In 2013 Codrin joined Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions. During his tenure at Ergon Codrin has worked in the Coatings & Specialty Adhesives field, Asphalt Emulsions, and Asphalt Binders groups. He is currently the Technical Director for the Asphalt Binder Group at Paragon Technical Services, the Research and Development Center for Ergon Asphalt & Emulsions. He is also directly involved with several NCHRP projects, as well as industry related Expert Task Groups and Committees.

Christine Gorsuch

Senior Researcher, Asphalt Applications Christine Gorsuch is a Senior Researcher for Nouryon Asphalt Applications working in the Nouryon R&D center in Brewster, NY. She has 11 years of experience in the asphalt industry, starting with asphalt binder testing for the development of warm mix and antistripping additives. She is experienced in asphalt emulsion formulation, technical service, customer training, developing test methods and designing new products. She has a Master’s degree in Chemistry from Vassar College.

Dr. Stephanie Stewart

Scientist, Asphalt Applications Stephanie Stewart is a Scientist for Nouryon Asphalt Applications working in the Nouryon R&D center in Brewster, NY. She started learning how to formulate and test asphalt emulsions for slurry, micro and chipseal in 2011 after receiving her doctorate in Physical Chemistry from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has spent the last decade in the asphalt industry in a variety of reseach & development, sales and marketing roles.

Joe Brandenburg

Midwest Account Manager, Asphalt Applications Joe Brandenburg is the Midwest Account Manager for Nouryon Asphalt Applications. He graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree in Environmental Science. Shortly after graduating he landed a job as a quality control lab technician at an asphalt plant. From there he has spent the last 20 years involved in the research and development, manufacturing, application of emulsified, polymer modified and roofing asphalts.

Tony Ng

Scientist, Asphalt Applications Tony Ng graduated with degree in Chemical Engineering in the Philippines. He held various position in crude oil refinery, lube oil refinery and asphalt emulsion plant while in the Philippines. He has worked for Nouryon for 36 years, providing asphalt emulsion formulations and slurry and micro-surfacing mix designs to customers, as well as providing technical support, training and assistance to customers, especially during start-up of asphalt emulsion plant and micro-surfacing applications.

Ester Ternero

Chemist, Asphalt Applications Ester Ternero is an inquisitive and passionate chemist specializing in asphalt. She has worked as a chemist in technical support for South America at Nouryon's lab in Itupeva, Brazil for over 10 years. She has a Master’s Degree in chemical engineering from Universidade Católica de Campinas, and a BA in chemistry from Pontificia Universidade Católica de Campinas. Her master’s thesis focused on the interaction between the soil and the asphalt emulsion for prime coat application.
