Nouryon achieves EcoVadis Platinum rating for sustainability performance

5 Oct 2022 - News

Updated November 15th: Nouryon has been awarded a 2022 Platinum rating by EcoVadis for its sustainability achievements. This rating places Nouryon in the top 1% of companies then assessed by the global sustainability ratings provider.

“Sustainability is core to Nouryon’s strategy and integral to our operations and product offering,” said Charlie Shaver, Nouryon Chairman and CEO. “This EcoVadis rating re-affirms our strong performance on our Commitment to a Sustainable Future. We continue to make progress as a top-quartile people safety performer while providing sustainable essential solutions to our customers. We are also improving the efficiency of our carbon usage as our company continues to grow.”

The company again improved its overall score and earned high ratings from EcoVadis across all areas. It notably increased its scores for its labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement practices. Additionally, by the end of 2021, 96% of invited suppliers were assessed for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) risk using the EcoVadis Risk IQ tool. Nouryon also recently launched its first-ever Supplier of the Year Awards, which includes an award for sustainability as part of the company’s effort to drive continuous improvement in its supply chain.

“Our approach to sustainability is about long-term thinking and achieving growth,” said Vivi Hollertt, Nouryon Chief Sustainability and Communications Officer. “We are delighted that Nouryon has been recognized for our sustainability progress with the EcoVadis rating and we will continue to partner with our employees, customers, suppliers and other stakeholders to reduce impacts, mitigate risks, and harness growth opportunities.”

This most recent recognition of Nouryon’s sustainability progress follows the second year of Nouryon joining the United Nations Global Compact, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative, in support of its universal principles on human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. Additionally, in 2021, Nouryon voluntarily provided responses to the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) climate questionnaire resulting in a B score for Climate Change.

In May 2022, Nouryon published its third annual Sustainability Report. More information on the company’s sustainability progress can be found in the full report, the ESG data sheet and dedicated Sustainability section.
