Materiality Assessment

Materiality Assessment

We conducted a materiality assessment in 2019 with the support of an independent consulting firm. The assessment identified health and safety in all aspects of our operations, as well as climate change, including energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, as issues of key importance to our business.

Other high-priority focus areas include ethics, transparency, and employee rights. This materiality assessment continues to help us identify our sustainability priorities and set goals. The structured process balanced a range of internal and external perspectives ensuring that the full range of critical issues for Nouryon have been identified and prioritized. The process consisted of: 1) interviews with Nouryon Leadership Team and experts; 2) surveys with suppliers, customers, Nouryon’s Business Resource Groups, and senior management and; 3) supplementary external viewpoints through additional desk-based research.
