Mechanical Reliability Engineer - Specialty Chemicals

Nouryon is currently seeking an experienced strategic and operative Mechanical Reliability Engineer Manager at its Lima, Ohio manufacturing facility - Fort Amanda Specialties. FAS, a joint venture between Nouryon and BASF Corp, are a major producer of chelating agents that are used in a broad range of applications. The FAS site is ISO 9001 and 14001 certified.
Position Purpose: 
This position supports Maintenance and Operations by improving equipment and piping system mechanical reliability and managing the sites Mechanical Integrity program. 

Strategic Activities:
•Drive the site’s safety and continuous improvement culture in all activities.
•Establish, review, and modify maintenance practices, procedures, equipment preventative/predictive maintenance strategies, and safety standards on current and new equipment to ensure equipment is operated, maintained, and serviced optimally.
•Improve equipment reliability by collecting and analyzing information on equipment performance and availability.   Determine, implement, and lead next step change activities for improving equipment availability.
•Fulfill the Nouryon “Site Responsible Engineer” role. Develop technical skills supporting the SRE and Mechanical Integrity role.
•Manage site’s Mechanical Integrity Program per regulatory and Nouryon’s requirements.
•Lead Nouryon’s Process Safety Management Framework (PSMf) for specific building blocks:  BB8- Process Safety Information, BB9- Asset Register, BB7-PSMf Audits.
  Operative Activities:
•Maintain the Mechanical Integrity Program to ensure day-to-day and long term equipment reliability as well as maintain equipment documentation files, engineering drawings and P&IDs. (i.e.. Process Safety Information)
•Lead investigation of mechanical equipment and material failures on critical equipment and pipe systems using root cause analysis, FMEA, and other techniques to improve reliability.
•Coordinate and plan all activities required for mechanical integrity inspections.
•Assist in planning turnaround and plant shutdown activities.
•Be a plant resource to the Engineering Department and consulting firms for specifying equipment for improved reliability and maintainability for maintenance and capital projects.
•Provide engineering technical support to in-house maintenance crafts people as required.

Identifies position’s primary customers and explains what position can do to help meet customer expectations.
Primary customers include Production/Operations and plant management to provide effective mechanical equipment reliability and maintain mechanical integrity program.

Job Requirements

BS Degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering / Technical field  and 5 years of mechanical experience or related field in a manufacturing environment.
In addition, the following are necessary for success in this position:
•Experience with Mechanical Reliability, Mechanical Integrity, Process Safety Management, Process Safety Information (PSI), Root Cause/Failure analysis, and Maintenance repairs/activities.
•Possess American Petroleum Institute inspector certifications for Vessels (API 510 & 653) & Piping (API 570) inspections or be willing and able to achieve.
•Technical knowledge in materials, codes, standards, and RAGAGEP.
•Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office, ACAD, with ability to learn and use SAP. 
•Ability to manage projects.
•Demonstrated decision making and analytical skills.
•Demonstrated strong communication and social skills for effectively interacting within and outside the company.
