  • Drive a safety culture and mindset by:
    • Ensuring all safety programs and initiatives are implemented in partnership with site leadership.
    • Proactively communicates to all levels of the site on safety metrics, topics and education.
    • Continuously looks for ways to improve and strengthen the safety culture of the site.
    • Partners with Production and Maintenance teams to ensure all work is conducted in safe manner and helps interpret policy and procedures to create a safe work environment.
  • Conduct and ensure inspection of plant facilities are complete, unsafe acts, fire protection, first aid equipment, security etc.
  • Coordinate site health, safety and security training activities and conducts training as needed.
  • Investigate major incidents and accidents.
  • Communicates and coordinates with local and federal agencies relating to health, safety and security laws, and regulations.
  • Represent the Company in local, state and federal organizations, act as community interface.
  • Coordinate site Risk Insurance audits and deal with legal issues related to workman’s compensation and health, safety and security areas.
  • Oversees emergency response training and activities.
  • Support the effective implementation of the site corrective action process.
  • Understand and help implement the Site Operating Policy and Objectives which includes MTQ and ISO/RC 14001.
  • Be aware of potential environmental impacts in your area of responsibility and the consequences if an upset occurs.
  • Be aware of potential health, safety, security and environmental impacts in area of responsibility and the actions required should an issue occur.
  • Understand and implement any parts of the Houston Environmental Compliance Plan and Waste Management Plan that apply to your area of responsibility.
  • Participate in the site's on-going Pollution Prevention Process.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • BA/BS Safety or Engineering or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years experience in chemical industry
  • 3-5 years of demonstrated leadership
  • Proven ability to develop others and/or mentor others
