Process Development Technologist

This position performs experimentation and project tasks in chemical manufacturing environment. This position supports Process Development by organizing, conducting, and leading new product development and manufacturing support activities under the supervision of the Quality Assurance Manager.




  • Safety-related responsibilities
    • Participates in all aspects of site safety activities including auditing, safety meetings, JSA’s, etc.
    • Prepares and maintains PSM process safety information
    • Prepares and maintains batch operating procedures
    • Participates in HAZOP’s and safety reviews
    • Follows and supports MOC process for temporary and permanent process changes.
    • Participates on site’s PSM team and serves as champion for PSI and Trade Secrets subsections
  • Conducts laboratory and pilot experiments in support of new product development and manufacturing improvement.  Gathers data, performs analysis, summarizes findings, and writes reports.  Uses scientific and engineering methodologies.  Archives key information in notebooks and electronic files.
  • Supervises scale-up and trial batches in manufacturing.  Provides support to the operations group during non-standard processing.  Prepares “green sheets” and process change documents.
  • Acquires knowledge of basic engineering principles based on practical experience and applies this knowledge to solve process issues.  Uses statistical analysis to make conclusions and process improvement recommendations.
  • Completes minor projects to support yield, quality, and cycle time improvements.  Also, completes minor capital projects in the laboratory or pilot plant.
  • Communicates clearly with R&D, Sales, Technical Service, and Manufacturing personnel, as needed. 
  • Proficient in and regularly uses standard office software packages.  Manages personal time to complete assigned tasks.
  • Participate in HSES activities directed by management/supervision or as indicated in the HSES Annual Site Plan.
  • Team members should operate under any applicable Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) when performing functions within their role.




  • Significant experience (10+) years as an engineering technician, or an Associates Degree in science plus 5+ years work experience, or a Bachelor’s Degree in a scientific field.
  • Proficient in MS Office
  • Must be able to manage time effectively.
