The Health, Safety, Environmental, and Security Manager is responsible for

  • HSES programs and compliance, ensuring all aspects of production comply with OSHA and EPA regulations.
  • Coordinating the Site’s Safety Program and Permit activities.  
  • Project assignments, which require process engineering and chemistry experience.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Manage the Site’s regulatory compliance programs for occupational safety and health, environmental and security laws.
  • Coordinate the Site’s safety program, including initiation of new programs, procedures, and training.
  • Coordinate permit activity for new installations and renewals for existing ones.
  • Manage projects as needed; most non-regulatory projects primarily related to process engineering.
  • Function as HSES Manager for the Site, responsible for the following activities:
  • Assure compliance with air, water, and hazardous waste regulations. Keep current with changes to applicable local, state, and federal Regulations.
  • Monitor plant wastewater effluent and ensure that it meets the permit conditions. 
  • Report any excursions and file appropriate follow-up reports.
  • Manage all water and air permits compliance activities.
  • Conduct PHA’s and HAZOPs per required timelines to ensure safe production.
  • Function as the compliance coordinator for PSM regulations and activities.
  • Investigate work-related injuries, illnesses, and incidents. Complete reports as required and manage action items related to the respective investigations.
  • Coordinate Site safety training and compliance programs.
  • Liaison with local governmental, environmental, community, and business groups to maintain positive relationships with each.
  • Handle FIFRA regulatory inspections and coordinate Site security and HAZMAT transportation security regulations and activities.
  • Function as the Responsible Care (RC-14001) compliance coordinator.
  • Handle responses for all environmentally related legal inquiries.
  • Coordinate the Site Hazard Communication regulation compliance and training activities, including state reporting activities.
  • Manage RMP compliance.
  • Manage the Site Emergency Response Program. 
  • Participate in internal and external audits, as required.
  • Conduct incident investigations
  • Conduct training on various HSES topics
  • Drives Product Safety and Stewardship activities and compliance
  • Input HSES-related Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, HSE Management, or related field.
  • Five (5) years experience in regulatory management and liaison with regulatory agencies and safety professionals preferred.
  • Previous experience facilitating PHA’s preferred 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Experience in the design, development, and presentation of a comprehensive company safety program.
  • Experience with Behavior Based Safety processes. 
  • Detailed oriented and organized
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
