Process Improvement Engineer/Process Engineer

 

About the job:

 

Nouryon’s Moses Lake, WA location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Process Improvement Engineer/Process Engineer. This position is essential to:

 

  • Provide professional engineering support services including coordination with company technical representatives, comprehensive project management, and technical expertise.
  • Provide process troubleshooting and process optimization services for all process operations within the plant site as directed.
  • Acquire and maintain technical competence on company processes.  Coordinate expertise and related objectives with other company plant sites.

 

In your future role as a Process Improvement Engineer/Process Engineer, you will:

 

  • Design and implement process, equipment, and system improvements.
  • Conduct process troubleshooting and implement optimizations.
  • Effectively communicate with all department personnel.  Coordinate activities with Operations, Industrial IT, Plant Engineering and Maintenance representatives.
  • Maintain required documentation. 
  • Follow all applicable management system requirements. 
  • Provide employee training as needed.
  • Evaluate reports and data and coordinate response action as needed.
  • Participate and represent the Moses Lake plant in technical matters with external groups.
  • Interrelate with operations to greatest extent possible.  Provide off-hour support if and as necessary.  Acquire and maintain emergency response knowledge.
  • Acquire and maintain HSES expertise associated with position, including HazOp skills.

 

 

Position Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited four-year college or technical school.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. 
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. 
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. 
  • Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory and factor analysis.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. 
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Ability to understand proper operating criteria for some large mechanical/process pieces of equipment (static and mobile) in order to be able to make a judgment on their safe operation.
  • Washington State Driver’s License.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Must have a high-level expertise in the ability to operate and use personal computers with current authorized company software packages.

Supervision Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for maintaining a positive and professional work environment in activities relating internal and external to the department.  This includes such issues as personnel relations, exemplifying a role of leadership, training, and development of personnel, maintaining proper communications, and supporting management objectives.
  • There are no permanent direct supervisory responsibilities for this position.  However, contractor supervision, and providing employee direction on various projects, as required.  Associated competencies needed to be maintained.
  • Share “Management On-Call” responsibilities for evening, weekends, and holidays.

Safety Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for making safety related decisions and ensuring that safety requirements are followed and maintained.
  • Responsible for the support and application of all Safety, Health, and Environmental policies and procedures as required.

Quality Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for making quality related decisions and supporting the Quality Assurance System.
  • Responsible for changes in the Quality Assurance System as required.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee can be exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock; explosives; and vibration.  The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation Information

 

The hiring salary range for this position ranges from $72,800 to $104,000, although individuals may eventually progress through the pay scale in this role up to $135,200. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role as well as the individuals’ qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications.

Hired applicant will be eligible to receive annual bonuses.
