About the role

The EU Government & Regulatory Affairs Manager is responsible for advancing the company’s advocacy and engagement activities around trade associations and EU initiatives for the Chemicals Industry. Communication of developments affecting the chemical sector to internal stakeholders will be a key function of this role. The position will also support the VP of Regulatory and Government Affairs on developing key contacts and advocating for Nouryon’s interests within regulatory bodies and with elected officials.

 

In your future role as the EU Government & Regulatory Affairs Manager

  • Represent the company in front of government decision makers at all levels and industry bodies such as CEFIC and various national chemical and manufacturing sector trade groups.
  • Coordinate and manage EU Trade association memberships. Focal point for participation in leading association and management of related spending.
  • Support President Europe as Sherpa for their Cefic board activities and work with internal partners to develop Nouryon’s position for specific topics.
  • Support commercial team responses to compliance-related customer requests (customer questionnaires and individual questions) and similar inquiries from suppliers, agents, distributors, and Nouryon team members.
  • Provide support for sites on all compliance and regulatory issues including trade issues that may affect their operations.
  • Support efforts to identify and secure tax and other incentives for Nouryon’s regional operations.
  • Coordinate with global colleagues when foreign delegations visit Nouryon’s Amsterdam headquarters.
  • Provide occasional support to the European communications team.


We believe you bring

  • Relevant Master education: legal, public affairs, communications, economics or chemicals or any other education made relevant through experience.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ working experience in an international organization in a similar position focusing on public or government affairs, in highly regulated environment. (like Chemical, Pharmaceutical, Medical or Energy).
  • Familiarity with REACH, CLP/GHS and other national and regional regulations and legislation affecting the chemicals industry.
  • Fluency in English. Dutch is a strong plus and French is nice to have.

This is a position (in-office) on a full-time basis, based in the Amsterdam office, the Netherlands. You will be reporting to the Vice President Government and Regulatory Affairs, who is based in the US.
