At Nouryon, we are seeking a talented and driven individual to join our team as a full-time Researcher in Deventer. In this role, you will conduct experimental work in the lab and explore new innovations for our organometallic products in in the global polymer industry.

As a Researcher, you will be an expert in organometallic chemistry, driving new developments for Nouryon. You will be exploring and developing new products as well as improving present chemical manufacturing processes. This is a hands-on role: you'll regularly be adapting, optimizing and troubleshooting experimental setups yourself, turning concepts into practical experiments and generating the data needed to advance new technologies and processes.

 

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Generating and validating new ideas for R&D projects aligned with market trends.
  • Conducting experiments yourself to develop ideas into commercial products or solutions, including building, adapting, and troubleshooting experimental setups as needed.
  • Applying chemical knowledge, technical insight and creativity to solve practical challenges in the lab ranging from equipment modifications to process workarounds.
  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver successful projects while taking ownership of your own R&D initiatives.
  • Collaborating with Technology group and global Nouryon production sites to support R&D projects and process improvements.

 

We believe you bring

  • At least 1-3 years of experience in organic chemistry. Additional experience in organometallic and/or polymer chemistry is a plus.
  • A BSc/MSc in organic chemistry or a related scientific field.
  • A hands-on mentality, with genuine enjoyment in working directly with lab equipment and experimental setups.
  • Technical insight and creativity - you can think through a problem and translate it into a practical adjustment to an experiment or setup.
  • Comfort with regularly adapting, fine-tuning, and troubleshooting experimental setups as part of daily work.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Combined with flexibility and adaptability.
  • B1 level Dutch language.

 

Great if you have

  • A solid background in chemistry related to polymer chemistry.
  • Experience in project management is advantageous.
  • A strong desire to conduct experiments and explore new areas within the field of organometallic chemistry.
