The Asphalt business within Nouryon is a specialty chemicals additives business, focused primarily on Asphalt emulsification and adhesion promotion. Our unique functional capabilities deliver differentiated benefits in high growth and sustainability focused applications.
In your future role as an Account Manager-Asphalt, you will:
- Deliver short- and long-term sales and profitability targets for the Asphalt business within the assigned territory, in line with annual budgets and strategic growth plans.
- Develop and execute customer strategies while managing and ensuring sales realization for assigned accounts within the North American Asphalt market segment.
- Create and own the Customer Value Proposition for assigned accounts.
- Consolidate regional demand and support the IBP and DMR processes to ensure both short- and long-term product demand is met.
- Identify and realize business growth opportunities across multiple sales channels.
- Contribute to the execution of the Asphalt strategy within the assigned territory.
- Translate new ideas into concepts and plans to address evolving customer needs, providing input into new product development and validating value creation at the customer level.
- Lead contract negotiations, serving as the primary negotiator on commercial terms.
- Build and maintain strong, multi-level relationships with key customer stakeholders.
- Keep management informed of key account activities through clear and effective internal communication.
- Build, maintain, and expand a network of strategic external relationships, collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and realize new business opportunities.
- Assess and understand market needs, trends, competitive dynamics, solutions, and products within the Asphalt market.
- Lead regional planning activities, including forecasting, pricing, and contract negotiations.
- Ensure effective inventory management and timely payment of overdues.
- Meet forecast accuracy targets, reduce forecast bias, and minimize overdue accounts.
- Communicate trends, opportunities, and risks clearly and proactively to sales leadership.
- Identify, assess, and develop potential new business opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with sales and support teams to drive customer satisfaction, revenue growth, and long-term account success, in alignment with company vision and values.
We believe you bring:
- A degree in Chemistry, (Civil) Engineering, or a related field (MSc or higher preferred).
- At least 5 years of experience in sales and/or technical customer support within the chemical industry, preferably with exposure to the road paving or asphalt sector.
- Established senior-level relationships within the Asphalt market (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, and verbal and written communication skills.
- A high level of energy, enthusiasm, and initiative, combined with a results-oriented mindset.
- A positive, growth-oriented attitude with a willingness to continuously learn and adapt.
- Excellent networking capabilities, with the ability to build strong relationships both externally with customers and internally across the organization.
- Willingness and enthusiasm to travel approximately 40% of the time.
- Proven problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels.
- Professional proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong financial and business acumen, with the ability to translate commercial insights into actionable outcomes.
- Familiarity with commercial and planning tools such as CRM systems and Arkieva (or similar platforms).

- This position is a remote-based role within the United States and reports directly to the Global Asphalt Sales Manager.
