About the job
The Production Technician on shift is responsible for maintaining proper field and process operations of the sodium chlorate production unit during the work shift, under the direction of the Chief Technician.
In your future role as Chief Technician you will
- Work with the Chief Technician on shift, forming a shift team that is capable of satisfactorily maintaining normal plant operations, but prepared to take proper action during abnormal plant operations or emergencies. (An example of such action is firefighting, but only to the response level qualified or trained).
- Participate in and/or execute activities pertaining to the production and loading areas during the work shift as necessary to maintain overall production department objectives and requirements.
- Assist the Chief Technician in documenting and communicating critical information relative to plant operation. This may include such items as logbook entries, operating log sheets, informative shift changes, and applicable reports.
- Assist the Chief Technician in monitoring and controlling the process via the Bailey DCS and other in-plant controls. Work with the Chief Technician in evaluating analytical and process data affecting process operations and taking preventative or corrective action as necessary.
- Perform periodic field checks of processes as required in order to ensure proper operations and to help avoid equipment damage, unsafe or undesirable situations, and similar events.
- With the assistance of the Chief Technician and maintenance department, the Production Technician is responsible for equipment care and condition monitoring with a goal of preventing equipment failures.
- Perform sampling and lab analyses as required.
- Participate in the interaction and requirements of maintenance and production activities during the work shift as necessary. This may include such items as preparing equipment for maintenance, writing work orders, documenting activities and events occurring during the shift, performing inspections, and other similar activities.
- Develop reports, collect data, and evaluate key plant operating parameters. Develop trends and graphs, routing air-flow measurements, review and participate in establishing PM frequencies.
- Assist in the evaluation and testing of new projects and experiments. Prepare PCR’s as required.
- Handling and working around hazardous materials, and maintaining any necessary certifications, as required.
- Overtime work hours will sometimes be required in order to meet production department needs.
- Attend meetings and training sessions as required. Some of these events will not be possible to be scheduled during the normally scheduled shift working hours.
- Responsible for helping to maintain a positive and professional work environment. This includes such issues as personnel relations, discouraging any form of harassment, maintaining proper communications, and supporting management objectives.
- A Production Technician will be required to meet the qualifications in order to temporarily upgrade to the position of Chief Technician to fill a need on shift. Qualification requirements for upgrading are not defined in this document and are subject to the discretion of the Operations Manager.
- Perform various tasks related to the plant utility systems as required by supervision.
We believe you bring
- High School Diploma
- 3+ years of experience in a production environment on a rotating shift
The hiring pay rate for this position is $53.76/Hr. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the specific role as well as the individuals’ qualifications, experience, skills, and certifications. Hired applicant will be eligible to receive annual bonuses.
