AkzoNobel ramps up use of renewable energy with Vattenfall

A new contract with energy company Vattenfall will enable AkzoNobel to ramp up the supply of renewable electricity to its facilities in Sweden and Finland. Hydro power and wind already make up the majority of the electricity supplied by Vattenfall, and the companies have agreed to further increase the share of renewable energy to the facilities to 100% by 2020.

Expansion of Chemical Island to support growth of pulp producer Fibria

AkzoNobel’s Specialty Chemicals business has completed the expansion of a Chemical Island in Brazil to support a major project for Brazilian forestry company Fibria. The world’s leading producer of eucalyptus pulp from planted forests, Fibria has invested $2.2 billion to more than double pulp capacity at its mill in Três Lagoas to 3.25 million tons per year.

AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals, DSM, Google and Philips receive first power from new Dutch wind farm Bouwdokken

AkzoNobel Specialty Chemicals, DSM, Google and Philips have started receiving power from the Bouwdokken wind farm in the Netherlands – a milestone achievement resulting from a unique green energy purchasing consortium they jointly established. All four companies consume a substantial amount of power in the Netherlands, and by working together they are making a significant contribution to delivering on the Netherlands’ renewable energy target of 14% by 2020.
