We are looking for a Safety Researcher with a hands-on, data-driven approach to develop new safe products and processes in the field of organic peroxides.

About the role

The Nouryon Polymer Specialties business is the world's leading producer of organic peroxides, metal alkyls and organometallic specialties. These are essential ingredients for the polymer industry. One of our R&D departments, the Safety Testing and Modeling (STM) team, focuses on the safety of products and processes for the Polymer Specialties business. Supported by a world-class safety laboratory, this team conducts investigations to support the development of safe products for our international customer base and new safe processes for our global manufacturing operations. As Safety Researcher, you will be part of the STM team of the Polymer Specialties R&D group.

The safety studies conducted at the STM department include aspects such as thermal runaway behavior, reaction kinetics and explosivity testing. In addition, we perform safety tests for transport and storage classification of hazardous chemical goods.

In your future role as Safety Researcher you will

• Contribute to the development of new safe products and processes and improvement of existing products and processes (mainly in the field of organic peroxides)
• Plan and conduct experiments, evaluate experimental data and report these, verbally as well as in writing, to various project leaders
• Contribute to incident investigations
• Manage contacts with R&D, PSRA, Technology and Sales & Marketing
• Provide input for technical literature, brochures and revisions of transport and storage regulations in the field of organic peroxides
• Conduct trainings and demonstrations in the field of safe handling and storage of hazardous chemical goods
• Contribute to customer support activities and advice our customers how to use our organic peroxides safely

We believe you bring

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemistry or a related field
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience
• Good language skills in English, both in speech and in writing

Great if you have

• Experience with working in a lab environment
• Experience with ISO 9001 quality management
• Experience with regulatory affairs

• A permanent contract with a probationary period of 2 months
• A gross basic annual salary including holiday allowance based on your knowledge and experience between EUR 56,898 and EUR 79,282
• 25 vacation days + 10 leave days

Good to know

This is a full-time position based in Deventer, reporting to the Manager Safety Testing & Modeling. As travel is an integral part of the role, you can expect to travel approximately 10% of the time throughout the year.
