Domestic Logistics Manager NAM

 

About the job:

 

Nouryon’s Houston, TX location is looking for top candidates to fill the key role of Domestic Logistics Manager NAM. This position is essential to:

 

The Domestic Logistics Manager is responsible for execution of daily modal activities and providing planning, guidance, and supervision to Logistics Specialists responsible for any modal logistics planning. Support development of a coherent regional Logistics plan aligned with each business strategy and the individual local and global logistics requirements.

  • Lead team responsible for planning, executing, and monitoring transportation for international modes ensuring adherence to processes and ensuring compliance with Nouryon policies and procedures and ultimately ensure that the Trade Compliance for the company is supported
  • Manage SAP and third-party preparation, distribution, and maintenance of all import and export documents for various geographical regions.  Ensure all logistics activities are performed in keeping with logistics objectives and at the most optimal cost and customer service level
  • Ensure timely planning, execution, and monitoring of all shipments to ensure customer service needs and IBP targets are met
  • Contribute to the continuous assessment and effectiveness to identify logistics improvement opportunities
  • Contribute to modelling & simulation, footprint development, logistics mode selection to ensure cross business and sites synergies and that the benefits are captured
  • Ensure successful implementation of logistics change projects by providing risk management support

 

In your future role as a Domestic Logistics Manager NAM, you will:

 

  • Act as an effective leader of the modal team, build strong relationships and team, commit to the growth of individuals on team, lead by example and be an influencer
  • Validate availability and secure transport mode capacity in alignment with expected volumes and forecasts
  • Support implementation of process improvement and cost reduction measures to drive operational efficiency and service
  • Exploit synergies among all businesses in region and across region
  • Ensure logistics tools & processes are used in the ‘ready to serve” arena
  • Transfer best practices among businesses in a global level
  • Maintain and monitor KPIs, identifying and implementing improvements where needed
  • Develop staff by organizing training sessions and support Management by providing input to performance reviews, as well as recommendations for hiring, salary adjustments, promotions, transfers, and disciplinary actions
  • Motivate staff to make an effective and efficient self-driven team
  • Manage relationships with logistics providers and also with customs brokers and partner government agencies in coordination with Trade Compliance.
  • Be the Nouryon Representative on industry associations
  • Conduct quarterly business reviews with core logistics providers to ensure outlined service requirements are being met and identify performance improvement and innovation initiatives
  • Communicate performance updates, progress of improvement initiatives, and challenges to Management
  • Coordinate with logistics and business leaders to ensure that performance is aligned with organizational needs
  • Review accuracy and performance execution based on planning/IBP, monitoring, and reporting activities to ensure effective processes and controls are in place
  • Coordinate with IBP to develop forecasts of modal transportation demand
  • Lead and model Nouryon Values to include driving code of conduct compliance at all times

 

We Believe You Bring:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Operations Research, Supply Chain, Logistics, Trade Compliance or related field from 4-year accredited college or university.
  • Minimum 7 years’ experience in logistics / supply chain with at least 5 years’ experience managing teams. Experience with chemical companies is preferred & HSE orientation and Lean Management methodologies such as Lean Six Sigma.
  • Experience with Project Management
  • Proven leadership skills including leading a team with clear objectives, results-orientation and developing people
  • Demonstrated knowledge and leadership experience in managing logistics activities for a functional team
  • Experience identifying and executing process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing cost and / or improving service level
  • Experience with carrier relationship management and performance evaluations
  • Strong understanding of the modal transport market
  • Strong working knowledge and history of using computers and programs specific to logistics (SAP, TMS, Intellitrans) and to general business management (MS Excel, Word)
  • Experience with logistics provider, customs broker, Trade Compliance, government agency relationship management and performance evaluations
  • Experience with HazMat Shipping and DOT/FRA regulations
