Shift Supervisor

Shift Supervisor

 

This position reports to the Production Manager and is responsible for supervising production employees and chemical processes during shifts to ensure production requirements are met and manpower and equipment are utilized in a safe and efficient manner.   

 

 

In your future role as Shift Supervisor, you will

 

Responsible for the supervision of hourly production personnel to meet production requirements and to support business objectives

 

  • Supervise and direct plant personnel to meet production and scheduling requirements.
  • Ensure chemical processes are run safely and efficiently.
  • Assist in the training of new and existing production employees, including procedures and work instructions.
  • Provide technical support for new and existing processes.  Solve problems related to raw materials, equipment, and scheduling for the assigned shift.   
  • Assist in updating F&Ps for existing processes.
  • Initiate and assist in projects to improve yield, cycle time, first-time-right, asset utilization, and scrap generation.
  • Administrative duties include timecards, overtime scheduling/tracking, and vacation scheduling.
  • Participate on project, operational, and/or cross-functional teams as required.
  • Assist with efficient production scheduling, inventory control, and expense control.
  • Assist with production-related SAP duties, including processing orders, barcodes, and labeling.

 

 

Responsible for HSES activities within the production department

 

  • Responsible for the safety training of production employees and adherence to appropriate codes and standards.
  • Participate in the activities and processes to drive HSES initiatives.
  • Participate in and support the site behavior-based safety process (CACTUS) and Exposure Reduction Initiative (ERI) to eliminate injuries, promote safe behavior, reduce exposure, and manage risk.
  • Promote good housekeeping standards in the plant.
  • Participate as needed in injury and incident investigations.
  • Assist in the compliance with HSES requirements, directives, procedures, and standards, including Product Safety and Stewardship.
  • Work closely with HSES Manager to maintain environmental controls, Industrial Hygiene, and employee health.

 

 

We believe you bring

 

  • Degree in Chemistry or related field and/or relevant work experience in Chemical Processing manufacturing area/operations.
  • Minimum 1-3 years of experience in Manufacturing/Operations or related field.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Prior supervisory experience (preferably in a union environment) is a plus.
  • Commitment to health, safety, environment, security, and quality.
  • Experience with Behavior-Based Safety processes a plus.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of PCs and software packages

This is a permanent position on a full-time basis, reporting to the Production Manager and based in Chattanooga, TN
