Lightweight fillers - Expancel Microspheres

Why go with something like glass microspheres when you can get much lower densities with our lightweight fillers?

Today consumer goods need to be amazingly light and manufacturers face several challenges. Expancel Microspheres as a lightweight filler will add volume without significantly adding weight, giving:

  • lightweight products
  • possibility to substitute heavier substances
  • Improve yields
  • save on raw material costs


Our DE (dry, expanded) and WE (wet, expanded) lightweight fillers have densities as low as 25kg/m³ depending on the product.

Featured applications for lightweight fillers

  • Architectural paint The closed, uniform spheres are optimal fillers to formulate at higher PVC which means there's less need for binder in the paint.
  • Cool roof coatings Expancel® Microspheres are optimal for developing highly flexible cool roof coatings, reducing surface temperature by up to 15°C.
  • Sealants and adhesives Use Expancel® Microspheres for lighter, durable and more cost-effective sealants and adhesives.
  • Textiles The spherical shape low density means you get a filler for technical textiles that's both lightweight and has great expansion capacity.
